3 Reasons Urgent Care Centers are Great Places for a Variety of Medical Testing
Urgent care centers have become one of the hottest trends in the healthcare industry. Instead of dealing with the hassle of scheduling appointments around traditional doctors hours, more and more people are turning to these over 6,800 walk in clinics for a plethora of different medical ailments and treatments.
What many in the public still may not realize is that these urgent care clinics also double as medical testing facilities for a variety of different conditions. From running blood work to STD testing, urgent care is providing crucial testing services to people across the country in a timely and efficient manner. Here are three specific reasons as to why urgent care centers are a great place to go for your medical testing needs.
- Convenience: A lot of times, medical testing is something you want to have done for precautionary reasons, but isn’t necessarily of dire importance. Still, you want to be able to get in and have it done when your schedule allows. Instead of dealing with scheduling an appointment, you can go to virtually any urgent care center to have most medical testing done, and most of the time under the same level of care. Almost two-thirds of centers employ a mix of doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals, and 65% of centers have at least one physician on-site at all times.
- Efficiency: In the same vein as convenience comes efficiency. No one wants to have to spend all day waiting around just for some type of medical testing that will only take a few minutes to perform. The greatest aspect for many urgent care goers is the fact that wait times and service is timely and effective. About 57% of patients wait 15 minutes or less to be seen, and about 80% of all visits are 60 minutes or less, according to a survey by The Urgent Care Association of America.
- Affordability: If your time isn’t that valuable to you, there’s a good chance your money still is. Simply put, urgent care centers are more cost-effective than most doctor’s offices, hospitals, or specialty clinics. No sense in paying the exorbitant prices of a doctor’s visit when all you need is some kind of quick medical testing.
Urgent care centers offer many different types of medical testing. For reasons of convenience, efficiency, and affordability more and more people are turning to them to get the job done.
