Bladder Infection

Find out when to see a doctor.

A bladder infection, also called a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) or Cystitis is an infection in the bladder, mostly caused by bacterial. Bladder infections are more common in women, but men can get them as well.

Symptoms of Bladder Infections

While bladder infections are usually more of an annoyance than a medical emergency, it’s also a very treatable condition, often remediated with a short course of antibiotics.

The most common symptom of a bladder infection or UTI is painful, frequent and/or bloody urine, especially if you feel an itching or burning sensation, and once you’ve already gone, you still feel like you need to go again. There is also often a low fever, or a feeling of pain and swelling in the lower abdomen near the bladder. In children, repeated bed-wetting may also be a symptom.

While your bladder infection may be easy to treat now, if you let it go untreated it may spread to the kidneys and become a serious medical emergency! So if you’re feeling any of these symptoms, call your doctor or come to Phoenix Urgent Care. Bladder infections in Phoenix may be painful and a bit embarrassing, but we’re here to provide relief.
