Urgent Care for Urinary Tract Infections in Phoenix

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are one of the most common types of infections in the body, accounting for approximately 8 million visits to the doctor every year.

UTIs are more common in women, but can occur in men as well. It is an infection that occurs in your urinary system, most often in the lower urinary tract.

Most urinary tract infections are caused by bacteria already within the body, either the eubacteria that normally assist with your digestion, or infectious E. coli and similar bacteria carried harmlessly in your intestines. Transmission is usually, therefore, within yourself; UTIs are only very mildly contagious from one person to another, and often arise spontaneously. More than half of people will experience at least one urinary tract infection in their life, with women being more susceptible due to a short urethra, and its proximity to the anus.

The most common symptom of a UTI is an itching, burning or painful sensation during urination. This is usually accompanied by frequent, urgent and sometimes uncontrollable urination. Pain in the pelvic area, near the bladder or genitals, is another symptom. The urine itself may be bloody, cloudy, discolored and/or fragrant. More severe infections which have reached the kidneys and bloodstream can include a fever and chills, and aching pain throughout the body.

Urgent care for urinary tract infection in Phoenix will involve diagnosis (usually through a urine test) to determine which bacterium is causing the UTI, followed by a course of antibiotics. During treatment, it is important to drink extra fluids to flush out your urinary system and remove any remaining bacteria.
